This past year has been a period of both profound reflection and renewed commitment for Gatorzworld Foundation. As many of you know, we faced a significant loss in 2022 with the passing of my wife, Renee Narayan, the foundation’s founder.
The story of Gatorzworld Foundation is deeply personal. It began in 2011, with my own journey towards recovery after a severe brain injury, With the unwavering support and inspiration of our dog, Gator, I relearned the basic functions of daily life – walking, talking, eating, writing – essentially, living again. Renee witnessed this remarkable transformation firsthand, and together we were profoundly moved by the power of the human-animal bond.
We established Gatorzworld Foundation to leverage this powerful bond and offer support to those struggling with mental health challenges, trauma, loss, homelessness – individuals who often fall through the cracks of traditional support systems.
The period leading up to our incorporation in 2022 was one of both personal investment and unexpected setbacks. Prior to becoming a registered non-profit, our foundation’s efforts were entirely self-funded.
A turning point came in 2021 when we learned about the transformative power of grant funding. The Vancouver Foundation recognized the potential of our work with at-risk youth and homeless seniors through the therapeutic bond with dogs. They expressed enthusiastic support for our innovative approach and even offered to adapt their application process to accommodate our unique circumstances.
However, just as we were poised to secure this critical fundings, a series of unforeseen challenges arose. The requirement for the Society Incorporation number highlighted the need for formalization but the path to formalization encountered an unexpected hurdle. I experienced a major stroke and organ failure, requiring life support and facing a significant fight for recovery. Despite the odds, I emerged from this épreuve stronger and relearned essential mobility functions, eventually returning home.
Amidst these personal struggles, our foundation also faced the loss of three valued canine companions from our personal pack.
This period, though marked by adversity, underscored the unwavering dedication of my wife and the importance of our mission.
The most profound setback came just after incorporation, the diagnoses of our founder, Renee Narayan, with a rare form of neuroendocrine cancer. Despite a valiant fight, Renee passed away on May 28th, 2022.
2023 was a year of profound personal challenge. The loss of my wife, Renee, in 2022 left a deep void, and I grappled with feelings of hopelessness and a sense of lost purpose. It was during this difficult time that the powerful truth of “loss is to bring strength” resonated deeply. With unwavering support from friends and family, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and refocused on the mission of life – a mission that inherently includes Gatorzworld.
While 2023 was a year of rebuilding, it also ignited a renewed resolve to honour Renee’s vision. We have taken strategic steps to strengthen our foundation while preparing exciting plans for the future of Gatorzworld.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support as we continue to make a positive impact on the lives of this in need.

The Gatorzworld Foundation’s story began thirteen years ago, sparked by a life-changing experience for our Director, Amritpal Randhawa. After sustaining a serious brain injury, Amritpal encountered disability firsthand. It was during this challenging time that his American Bully, Gator, became a source of immense inspiration and strength.
Gator’s unwavering presence empowered Amritpal to push through his new mental hurdles, ultimately serving as the catalyst for the Gatorzworld Foundation’s mission: to provide a central hub to host a dog rescue, homeless senior & at-risk youth support and services education and resource centre.
The founder of Gatorzworld Foundation, Renee Narayan, who passed away on May 28, 2022, dreamt of using rescued dogs to foster youth and build community compassion, ultimately extending aid to homeless seniors. The founder’s passing wish was for Gatorzworld Foundations to continue her legacy of promoting kindness, compassion, and acceptance towards all.

Gatorzworld Foundation empowers individuals and communities facing challenges by leveraging the human-animal bond through rescued dogs.
Their work supports animal rescue, at-risk youth, seniors experiencing homelessness, individuals overcoming mental health and substance abuse issues, victims of domestic violence, people of colour and people with disabilities. We empower at-risk youth using the following method:
Building Strong Foundations: We mentor youth on crucial life skills, tackling issues like bullying, drug use, and healthy relationships. We equip them with positive behaviors, attitudes, and the skills needed to thrive.
Holistic Support: We provide safe shelter and opportunities for them to gain valuable work experience through volunteering. These experiences can open doors to future employment.
Compassionate Learning: Our innovative program uses rescued animals in need of training and love. By caring for these animals, youth develop responsibility and empathy – skills that mirror their own journeys of growth.
Community Connection: We expand their awareness of social issues by educating them about the local homeless crisis, particularly in White Rock. Youth participate in outreach programs, engaging and feeding unhoused individuals alongside the dogs they help rehabilitate. This fosters a sense of community and social responsibility.
The program creates a ripple effect, inspiring compassion and social responsibility, ultimately bringing the community closer together.
Gatorzworld Foundations uses rescued dogs to bridge the gap between unhoused seniors and at-risk youth. Volunteers deliver meals prepared in partnership with Meals on Wheels and local temples. Playtime with the dogs fosters companionship and opens doors to support services offered by the foundation. This comprehensive approach provides not just meals but also a sense of community and hope to all.
